Fredericton police have identified human remains found at a landfill this week as those of 55-year-old Jeffrey Peter Kroon.
Officers were called to Fredericton Region Solid Waste on Alison Boulevard around 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Investigators believe Kroon was taken to the landfill site in a garbage truck after being inside a commercial garbage bin.
Police are comfortable saying foul play was not involved and there is no risk to the public.
They also say Kroon was not living on the street or sleeping in a dumpster but had a warm, dry place to live.
Police urge the public to consider locking commercial garbage bins to discourage people from getting inside.
