The new Lieutenant-Governor has been officially installed after a ceremony at the Legislative Assembly in Fredericton.
Brenda Murphy, a social activist was named to the post and sworn in on September 8th but this completes her installation as the 32nd New Brunswick Lieutenant-Governor.
Premier Blaine Higgs hosted the ceremony and stated, “Ms. Murphy’s passion for social justice and dedication to doing the hard work necessary to bring about change has made a profound difference in the lives of many New Brunswickers.”
During her first speech as the Lt. Governor, Murphy told the audience “Effective change can happen when we work together to build an inclusive, equitable society, address systemic barriers and support one another.”
