An education summit continues in Fredericton and the President of the New Brunswick Teachers Association is optimistic about the outcome.
Rick Cuming says there is a wide range of education officials on hand to tell the Premier and Education Minister their concerns.
“You have District Education Council Chairs, people from early childhood, child and youth teams and each of the districts had chosen teacher representatives,” stated Cuming.
He says there are at least twenty anglophone teachers and a dozen more from the Francophone Districts. Cuming is really hoping for frank discussions and some concrete results from this summit.
“I am really happy that there are teachers here that are going to be able to speak about their realities and I look forward to supporting them and I am really here to make sure that that teacher’s voice is heard along with many of the other front line teachers,” stated Cuming.
Premier Blaine Higgs kicked off the summit by calling the education system in New Brunswick ” a disaster”.
