A Saint John Sea Dogs rookie has been named to Team Canada for the 2019 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.
Joshua Roy is one of 66 players who will represent the country at November’s tournament in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Roy was drafted to the Sea Dogs first overall in the 2019 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Entry Draft.
“As a staff, we are very excited for Josh to have the opportunity to represent his country at the U17 World Challenge,” said Josh Dixon, the head coach of the Sea Dogs, in a news release.
“Having the opportunity to play with and against the best players in Canada and the World will be a tremendous development opportunity for Josh and will no doubt pay future dividends in his play when he returns to the Sea Dogs.”

Sea Dogs prospect Peter Reynolds, who is currently playing in the British Columbia Hockey League, was also selected.
The 66 players will be divided into three teams and will compete against the Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, Sweden and the United States.
