Changes to motor vehicle inspections in New Brunswick are being proposed by the Higgs government.
Currently, passenger vehicles must be inspected annually at a cost of $35.
Under proposed changes, vehicle inspections would be required once every two years at a cost of $45.
New vehicles would receive an initial inspection valid for three years.
There will be no changes for commercial vehicles and police will still have the authority to order inspections.
The new MVI regulations are expected to be implemented in January.
