There will be some tired bodies and tired minds come Sunday morning after gaming enthusiasts pull an all-day and all-nighter for charity.
It’s the Extra Life 24-hour game-a-thon to raise money for the IWK Children’s Hospital in Halifax.
It is being primarily hosted by GameZilla in Saint John and Fredericton. Sandy Lindsay of the Port City store says a lot of people will be taking part.
“In our store, we get anywhere from 60 to 70 people throughout the day. Our store in Fredericton gets 30 or 40, but this year we had a bunch of other workout and physical fitness businesses come forward and want to get involved with us,” stated Lindsay.
There will be a variety of games played during the marathon session.
“There is a Super Smash Brothers group that comes in, we will do some Warhammer, which is a miniature wargaming game, board games, card games like Pokémon Magic: The Gathering and kids will play Fornite and Minecraft on our computers and systems in the back room.”
Lindsay says it will be a very long event for them.
“We will be going full-tilt at our store in Saint John and the Fredericton GameZilla for the full 24 hours. Breakout, FitRocks and Oasis are going to go until midnight because the physical activities are a little more dangerous, the more of a zombie you become,” stated Lindsay.
