Paul Feig’s, (Bridesmaids, A Simple Favor) latest film is a Christmas two-for-one deal, continuing the rom-com renaissance and while bursting with sparking holiday magic.
Kate, (Emilia Clarke, Game of Thrones) is unlucky in life, prone to bad decisions and stuck in a dead-end job as a Christmas elf in a London holiday shop. She refuses to get into the holiday spirit, despite the haranguing of her boss, (Michelle Yeoh, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon) but after meeting Tom, (Henry Golding, Crazy Rich Asians) on the job Kate slowly starts to open up to life – and love?
The film was co-written by Emma Thompson (Saving Br. Banks), who plays Kate’s over-bearing, worried mother, and will feature the music and previously unreleased tracks of George Michael with a particular focus on the sad-Christmas hit, “Last Christmas.”
Last Christmas is a love letter to London at the height of its Christmas glory, with Covent Garden and Regent and Oxford Streets bedecked with lights and a light dusting of snow falling over the city, creating a special time and space where miracles occur and second chances are granted.
Last Christmas opens in theatres November 8.
