It looks like our first taste of snowy weather is coming for Friday according to Environment Canada.
Meteorologist Jean-Marc Couturier says the rain we get on Thursday is going to switch over as temperatures get colder.
“In Saint John proper the changeover will be happening late in the afternoon Friday and then for the higher ground the area between Saint John and Moncton during the course of the afternoon will be the transitioning period of rain into snow,” stated Couturier.
He says we could be looking snow accumulating into the evening and overnight Friday.
Couturier says “Possibly 10 to 15 centimetres snow for Fredericton and Saint John and for areas with higher elevations between the Kennebacasis Valley and Moncton it could be as high as 20 centimetres.”
The system will be over Newfoundland by Saturday and the temperature will drop so we will be looking at our first cold temperatures of the late fall before things begin to warm back up again early in the week.
