We were told to expect the worst from this late fall storm, but it appears we are not going to get hit as hard as first thought.
Doug Mercer from the Atlantic Storm Centre in Halifax says Saint John is looking at 2 centimetres through the day and an additional 2 this evening.
In the Kennebacasis Valley to Sussex, it could be 5 centimetres today and 2 more tonight.
The area that will see the most in the region is Moncton with a total of 12 cm possible by midnight.
Strong winds will be an issue because the temperatures will be between minus 6 and minus 10 degrees and that means any standing water will freeze overnight.
Mercer says “For that reason alone getting your winter tires installed this week will likely turn out to be a wise choice.”
It is back to sunshine for Saturday with highs around the freezing mark.
