With the looming threat of cooler weather and snow, the RCMP is reminding drivers to start thinking ahead.
As we roll into mid-November, police suggest taking time to prepare your vehicles for any and all conditions.
Drivers should think of installing their winter tires, changing fluids to anti-freeze fluids and replacing their battery if their current one is getting low.
When the snow finally hits, Cpl. Jennifer Clarke says properly cleaning off cars is an important step before hitting the road.
“It seems every year, we see incidents where someone doesn’t clear off the roof of their car,” she said.
“It can turn into a rather large sheet of ice and can fly off the vehicle, particularly at highway speeds, which can do a lot of damage to other vehicles and pedestrians.”
She also says drivers should plan ahead for messy weather, and try to stay home when conditions are unfavourable.
