Six people are facing charges following a series of incidents in Saint John this week.
Police say they responded to a shooting on Duke Street West early Sunday morning.
A man was taken to the Saint John Regional Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Shortly before 3 p.m. Monday, officers witnessed gunfire between two vehicles near Somerset Street.
No one was hurt in the incident, which led to a “hold and secure” at Princess Elizabeth School and a lockdown at a nearby daycare and Rocmaura Nursing Home.
About two hours later, officers responded to a barricaded suspect at a home on Anglin Drive.
Police say a woman inside the home was released just before 6:30 p.m. They say a man was taken into custody shortly before 10 p.m.
A residence on Parks Street Extension was also the scene of a tactical operation as part of the investigation.
Several residents in the area had to be evacuated during the incident, but no one was hurt.
Justin Breau, 35, has been charged with attempted murder in connection with Sunday’s shooting.
James Burnside, 36, faces several charges related to the standoff, including unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of a firearm while prohibited, and failure to comply with an undertaking.
Four people have been charged after the incident near Somerset Street on Monday afternoon.
A 20-year old woman and a 22-year-old man are charged with possession of a weapon or imitation thereof in danger to the public peace and failure to comply with an undertaking. Two 22-year-old men are facing a charge of possession of a weapon or imitation thereof in danger to the public peace.
Police say the three incidents are connected but have not said how.
