A swearing-in ceremony for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s new 36-member cabinet has taken place in Ottawa.
Chrystia Freeland has become deputy prime minister and minister of intergovernmental affairs. She has been replaced at Foreign Affairs by François-Philippe Champagne.
Jonathan Wilkinson moves to Environment and Climate Change, Catherine McKenna to Infrastructure and Communities, and Seamus O’Regan to Natural Resources.
Patty Hajdu will take over as health minister from Ginette Petitpas Taylor, who has been named the deputy whip.
New Brunswick MP Dominic LeBlanc, who recently underwent a stem cell transplant, remains president of the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada, while Bernadette Jordan has been moved to Fisheries and Oceans.
