Hockey Canada is changing the names of the various divisions.
The changes will reflect the age of the players involved rather than using random names.
In a news release, Hockey Canada said: “Following the recommendations of a task team, the age divisions will become U7, U9, U11 through to U21, impacting all minor and female hockey programs under the Hockey Canada umbrella.”
The age-based names, which are used in many parts of the world, as well as in numerous sports, will go in to effect next season.
