Quebec actress-director Monia Chokri (Laurence Anyways) directs a unique “dramady,” which was screened in the Un Certain Regard category at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival, and follows the interactions of a unique triangle of characters.
Sophia, (Anne-Élisabeth Bossé, Felix & Meira), a Philosophy academic in her mid-thirties who has failed to secure a faculty position, “temporarily” moves in with her older brother Karim, (Patrick Hivon, Ville-Marie).
The siblings have always had a close, bordering on co-dependent relationship but their bond is tested with Karim falls in love for the first time – with Eloïse, (Évelyne Brochu, Orphan Black), his sister’s gynecologist.
The immature Sophia, feeling abandoned by Karim, is forced to evaluate her purpose in life and make decisions that will make her a true adult.
