The Liberal opposition wants to know when — or if — construction will restart on a youth mental health facility in northern New Brunswick.
During question period Thursday, MLA Chuck Chiasson alleged some kids have to travel out of the country to get the help they need.
“Any delay, or even if the decision is made to close it and move it to another part of the province, then that would create a seven- to eight-year delay in providing services to our youth in our province who are now travelling to the United States,” stated Chiasson.
Chiasson’s allegations prompted a terse response from Health Minister Ted Flemming.
“If you are going to make allegations, would you please provide the information. I’d like names and the addresses and the telephone numbers of the people you say are travelling to the United States and I will personally look into it,” said Flemming.
Chiasson said the minister already has the names, which Flemming denied.
