A bit of nostalgia can be found in the digital version of a Christmas catalogue featuring 40 local businesses in Saint John, N.B.
The second edition of the Uptown Saint John Holiday Wishbook is now available online and it even comes with the sound of turning pages.
Nancy Tissington, Uptown Saint John Executive Director, says the feedback was positive during the first year of the Wishbook.
“They did hear a lot from their clients saying, ‘You know what? We saw this online. We clicked thru, we found this and we’ve come directly to you.’ We thought we would try it again and see how it goes. The enthusiasm from the retailer side is really great,” Tissington said.

Tissington says the idea came from the marketing committee, a group of volunteers who wanted something “warm and fuzzy”.
The digital catalogue is not online shopping, it’s intended as research to prompt shoppers to visit the Uptown core and buy local products.
Tissington notes it’s akin to a Wishbook with its own table of contents.
“You can shop by category and budget. So anything under $10, under $25, under $50, under $100 or anything over $100,” Tissington said.
