Former employees of the federal government can now apply for compensation for damages caused by the failure of the Phoenix pay system.
That system caused delays in cheques being issued to thousands of workers or in some cases short-changed their pay.
As a part of the deal reached earlier this year, the government agreed to offer compensation to former and deceased employees like what employees still work will receive.
Current employees received additional vacation time and compensation for personal or financial hardships.
A total of 140-thousand employees current and former are eligible.
Each request is being taken on a case-by-case basis.
