It is back to Level One in Jumanji: The Next Level, sequel to 2017’s holiday hit Jumanji: Welcome The Jungle and reboot of the 1995 adventure film, but with some unexpected upgrades and twists.
Unbeknownst to his friends the awkward Spencer (Alex Wolff), who is going through a rocky period in his life, kept the pieces of the broken Jumanji video game and rebuilt it, and over Christmas break willingly re-enters the game.
When Bethany, Fridge and Martha (Madison Iseman, Ser-Darius Blain, Morgan Turner) learn what Spencer has done, they return to Jumanji to recover their friend, but Spencer’s grandfather Eddie (Danny DeVito) and his best friend Milo (Danny Glover) are also pulled into the game. Even worse, Jumanji’s reconstruction has resulted in some glitches – including unexpected game avatar (Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Karen Gillan) switcheroos.
Despite an uneven playing field, the gang must work together once again to brave the deserts, jungles and snowy mountaintops alongside allies (Nick Jonas, Awkwafina) in order to find Spencer, beat the game and return to the real world.
Jumanji: The Next Level opens in theatres December 13.
