Saint John firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire early Tuesday morning at 341 Martello Road.
Upon arrival, they found the first floor was fully involved at the front of the home.
Platoon Chief Brian Wilson says crews worked quickly to knock down the fire, but they had to work hard to extensively get into the walls and pull it out.
The call came in at 1:30 a.m. and crews were on scene for close to three hours.
One person has been displaced because of the fire.
