The winter solstice officially arrived early Sunday morning at 12:19am ADT, meaning this will be the shortest day of the year.
Although we had a taste of winter weather in November, it’s been relatively quiet this month.
Weather Network meteorologist Nadine Powell believes New Brunswick will have an active storm season.
“I expect we’ll be on the receiving end of more storms or systems tracking closer to us as a whole. The overall number in terms of precipitation itself will come out on the high end of normal,” she said.
She also believes the relatively warm waters in the Gulf and the Atlantic could help intensify some storms.
Powell expects temperatures will be close to normal or slightly above normal this winter, especially compared to Quebec and Ontario.
