Saint John’s City Solicitor has been named to the Queen’s Counsel of New Brunswick.
After 43 years of service in the city, John L. Nugent has presented with the special designation at the Legislature earlier this month.
The Queen’s Counsel designation is the highest level available in the legal profession.
The designation goes back more than 400 years in the commonwealth system and is awarded to select few lawyers who distinguish themselves with skills and as advocates before the courts.
Out of 17-hundred lawyers on the list this year, Nugent was one of 11 chosen by a unanimous decision.
Mayor Don Darling presented him with a new nameplate last week, featuring the letters Q.C. at the top.
