J.D. Irving, Limited has released its job forecast numbers for the next three years.
The company is expecting to hire for over 6,800 full-time jobs, as well as over 2,700 student jobs.
Colleen Baxter with J.D.I. says 87 per cent of those jobs will be filled in Atlantic Canada, with 74 per cent in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
The three-year forecast is a result of anticipated retirements, business growth, and normal workforce turnover.
Over the last three years, J.D.I. has seen a steady increase in the need for immigrants in its businesses.
It anticipates 400 positions will be filled by newcomers in the future.
J.D.I. also forecasts hiring over 400 skilled trade jobs. 81 per cent of those trade positions will be filled in Atlantic Canada, while the remaining will be in Ontario and the U.S.
