A man accused of killing two police officers and two civilians in Fredericton will face a second fitness hearing.
Matthew Vincent Raymond appeared in a Fredericton courtroom on Monday via a video link.
Raymond was found unfit to stand trial by a jury in October, leading to a 60-day treatment order.
A new report from his doctors found he is now fit to stand trial, but a jury will have the final say.
Defence lawyer Nathan Gorham said they will meet with the Crown to discuss dates for a fitness hearing, which must take place before a criminal trial can be held.
Murder cases are automatically tried by judge and jury, but Gorham said he intends to apply for a judge-alone criminal trial.
Raymond is charged with first-degree murder in the shooting deaths of Fredericton police constables Sara Burns and Robb Costello, and civilians Bobbie Lee Wright and Donnie Robichaud.
The four were killed outside an apartment complex on Fredericton’s north side on Aug. 10, 2018.
