Elections New Brunswick has launched a campaign to raise awareness about the upcoming elections in May.
The province’s chief electoral officer will be making stops across the province in an effort to recruit potential candidates.
Kim Poffenroth says it includes positions on municipal councils, district education councils and regional health authority boards.
Poffenroth says that for the health of democracy, it’s important for electors to have a full slate of candidates to choose from on May 11.
She says eligible applicants must be a Canadian citizen, at least 18 years of age and a resident of the area in which they are running for at least six months.
Poffenroth says a number of information sessions will be held across the province to discuss the roles and responsibilities as well as the qualifications of each position.
She also says a fact sheet with information on the various positions can also be accessed through theĀ Elections NB website.
If you plan on running, Poffenroth says nomination papers must be filed by no later than 2 p.m. April 9.
