Fredericton Police have arrested a violent offender after he was found hiding in a hollow box spring.
The arrest stemmed from a number of reported break-ins in the Nashwaaksis area. Police tracked down a residence where the suspect was hiding, and also recovered a stolen vehicle.
Two days later, officers arrested 31-year-old Catlin William Morehouse in a home on the city’s Northside.
Officers searched the home on Main Street, and eventually found Morehouse hiding underneath a hollow box spring mattress in one of the rooms.
Thousands of dollars in property has been recovered, including sporting equipment and tools. It will be all returned to the owners.
Fredericton Police says they believe more than 10 files will be solved with the recovery of these stolen items.
Morehouse was also found to be the suspect in a domestic assault which left a female with multiple injuries.
He faces a number of charges, including break & enter, motor vehicle heft, and assault causing bodily harm.
