The Saint John Sea Dogs will see some more changes to its team roster this season.
The team has just signed forward Anderson MacDonald.
The free agent is from Quispamsis, and has previously played with the Saint John Vito’s minor hockey team.
He was drafted 10th overall by the Sherbrooke Phoenix and scored 29 goals in his rookie season.
He has since had stops in Moncton and Bathurst amassing career totals of 78 goals and 126 points, in 173 games. He had 15 goals and 28 points in 34 games this season with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.
“Anderson actually came to us. He expressed how much he wanted to be a Sea Dog,” said Team President & General Manager, Trevor Georgie in a release.
“Both he and we believe that if he is to ever reach his potential, it is playing here, at home, for the team that he has always wanted to play for.”
MacDonald has also drawn national attention for his open and honest discussions on mental health.
In other trades, the Sea Dogs have released forward James White.
He’s returned home to Ontario, where he’ll play Junior A hockey.
White played 91 games with the Sea Dogs in the last two seasons, recording eight goals and 10 assists.
