A strong showing for the Saint John Sea Dogs in the NHL Central Scouting’s midterm draft rankings.
Four players are listed among the top 217 North American skaters eligible for the 2020 NHL Draft.
The highest-ranking Sea Dog is defenceman Jérémie Poirier, who is number 16 on the list.
Poirier has set career highs in goals, assists and points this season with only 43 games played. He has 11 goals and 24 assists for 35 points.
He was named to the Canada Russia Series in November, where he represented Team QMJHL in games one and two of the series.
Poirier’s defensive partner, William Villeneuve, is ranked number 108 on the list.
Villeneuve is currently ranked second in points by a defenceman in the QMJHL and second overall in points on the Sea Dogs. He has seven goals and 29 assists for 36 points this season.

Also on the list are defenceman Charlie DesRoches, and Sea Dogs leading scorer Brady Burns.
Topping the list is Alexis Lafreniere of the QMJHL’s Rimouski Oceanic, who played a big role in Canada’s World Juniors win earlier this month.
Lafreniere had four goals and six assists in five games and was named the most valuable player and top forward
The 2020 NHL Draft will be held in Montreal in late June.
