Two people have been displaced following an early morning fire near Sussex on Monday.
Around 3 a.m. Monday, crews were called to a fire in the rural community of Hammondvale, just south of Sussex.
The man and the woman in the home escaped unharmed. They are staying with a relative for now and getting help from the Canadian Red Cross for purchases of food, clothing and other basics.
In the past four days, the Red Cross has assisted 26 people in New Brunswick following residential fires in eight different communities, including Fredericton, the Sussex area, on the Acadian Peninsula, and in Charlotte and Restigouche counties.
