Several veterinary clinics in New Brunswick are doing what they can to help out animals which have been injured in the Australian wildfires.
Dr. Sara Pridham with Stoneybrook Veterinary Services in St. Martins says the public can help out by donating supplies.
“We will take bandage materials, things like milk replacer for orphaned baby animals, expired medications they may have like antibiotics for pets, blankets and pouches, these sorts of things are needed,” said Pridham.
Pridham said the three veterinary clinics are also taking financial donations.
“We will be collecting these donations so that we can purchase more materials that the general public wouldn’t have access to, the antibiotics and pain medications, things like that are required by burn victims,” she said.
Pridham says the Royal Road Veterinary Hospital in Fredericton and the St. George Veterinary Clinic are also collecting donations, although only one will be handling the actual shipment.
“We are collecting everything and taking it to the St. George clinic. It is the base for New Brunswick for them to forward it on to Australia,” stated Pridham.
The response to the call for action has been overwhelming, says Pridham, with 35,000 views on their Facebook page.
