Peter MacKay says he wants to unite the country and the Conservative Party if he’s chosen as Leader.
He launched his campaign for the leadership today and says he wants to make Canada a place for everyone.
“We know first-hand how important it is that we do our part not to divide ourselves, or our party, or our nation. Divided we fall, we fail. And I’ve done my part, I’ve played my part in uniting the Conservative family in one big, blue tent,” MacKay told a crowd in Nova Scotia.
MacKay is competing against several opponents including Ontario MPs Erin O’Toole and Derek Sloan.
Rona Ambrose, Pierre Poilievre and Jean Charest are among the high-profile names announcing this week they are not in the race.
A new Conservative leader will be chosen on June 27th, 2020.
