A couple from Malatampec, a small community near Caraquet, claimed their lottery winnings Tuesday.
Thérèse LeBreton says she left the winning ticket on her desk for weeks before finally deciding to have it checked
Two days before her 64th birthday, she found out she won a $500,000 Maxmillions prize.
She plans on purchasing a car for each one of her daughters. Her husband, Gilles, says he can’t wait to buy himself a new Honda CRV.
The couple is also planning a trip to Cuba.
The win will also help the couple recoup losses they incurred from a major house fire last year.
