Torontonian Stella Meghie’s The Photograph will make romantics-at heart swoon this Valentine’s Day weekend.
Issa Rae plays Mae Morton, a woman left adrift, hurt and full of questions after the unexpected death of her famed photographer mother (Chante Adams, Monsters and Men).
After she discovers one of her mother’s photographs in a safety-deposit box, Mae strives to learn more about her estranged mother’s early life. On her journey a romance ignites between Mae and rising-star journalist Michael Block, (LaKeith Stanfield, Sorry To Bother You) who has been assigned to write a profile on her mother.
The electric chemistry and connection between Rae and Stanfield make The Photograph a worthy addition to the romantic drama, alongside classics such as The Notebook and Notting Hill.
The Photograph is in theatres today.
