Canadian Blood Services are urging more people to become donors.
Spokesperson Erin Gair says only 4 per cent of eligible donors actually donate but that there is a constant need for blood.
People with O negative blood type are especially urged to donate since they are universal donors.
However, Gair says only 7 per cent of the population have O negative blood.
Eligible donors have to be at least 17 years old and must bring an ID.
Gair says some travel criteria also have to be met and you can find the list online.
