More lakes across New Brunswick have been opened for ice fishing.
Natural Resources Minister Mike Holland says for years, anglers have been asking for more lakes to be open during the winter.
“Our government has listened and acted. I am pleased that there will be more waters open for people to get outside and enjoy ice fishing,” he said in a release.
An additional 84 lakes are now open for ice fishing, bringing the total number up to 150.
Waters and lakes designated for ice fishing will be open until March 31st.
Holland reminds people that licenses are required to ice fish.
He also urges them to use caution on the ice, especially during periods of mild weather.
