Officials say a bearded dragon seized during a recent investigation in Greater Saint John is doing well.
In a Facebook post on Wednesday, the New Brunswick SPCA said the reptile has been placed in a foster home.
Earlier in February, the SPCA said it was investigating allegations of animal abuse involving a bearded dragon.
A viral social media video showed a group of young people pouring what looks like alcoholic beverages on a bearded dragon and stomping on the floor around the reptile.
The incident prompted East Coast Boxing to drop a boxer from its roster which represents Team New Brunswick.
“The club and our associated athletes are expected to uphold a standard of conduct while at the gym, competitions, or in daily life. ECB cannot accept the actions demonstrated in this video,” said Chris Peters, head coach of the boxing club.
“We are deeply disappointed in the behaviour exhibited by the individuals present in the video, whether they are connected to ECB or not.”
The SPCA has asked anyone with first-hand knowledge of the incident to contact them.
