A 28-year-old Quispamsis construction worker has big plans after winning the top prize on an Atlantic Lottery scratch-and-win game.
Curtis Robichaud won Set for Life, which means he will get $1,000 a week for the next 25 years.
Robichaud rarely plays the lotto but after winning $30 on a scratch card, he bought a few more items at the Church Avenue Esso in Saint John and came up big.
“It’s something you dream about,” Robichaud said. “Everyone wants to win the lottery, right?”
He decided to play a little joke on the store’s staff, telling them his winning ticket wasn’t scanning properly on his phone’s lottery app.
Store staff scanned the ticket and were speechless at first, but quickly started jumping around and high-fiving each other.
Robichaud plans to take his family on a cross-country trip to see all that Canada has to offer and build a new home.
The Church Avenue Esso will get a one per cent seller’s prize.
