Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for nearly all of New Brunswick.
The national weather agency said snow, heavy at times, will move in on Thursday afternoon.
“Over southern parts of the province, the snow is expected to mix with or change to ice pellets this evening. Extreme southern regions could see a brief rain-snow mix after midnight,” said the weather agency in a statement.
Coastal areas are expected to see around 15 centimetres or less, but inland communities could see 20 to 25 centimetres of snow.
The brunt of the storm will be felt in northeastern New Brunswick, where up to 40 centimetres of snow could fall.
Winds gusting to between 60 and 80 kilometres per hour will also give occasional blowing snow, said the agency.
“Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve,” said Environment Canada.
“Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.”
Precipitation is expected to clear out in time for the Friday morning commute.
