If you need a walker for a few weeks, a new partnership in Grand Bay-Westfield can help.
The owners of a pharmacy are working the Church of the Resurrection to offer short-term loans of free medical equipment.
Corey Ryan of the Medicine Shoppe says they are hoping to fill a need in the community.
“A lot of people are getting out of the hospital or having surgery and just needing the short-term rental of a crutch or cane and people don’t have the money to buy that stuff all the time,” Ryan said.
Ryan says the community has been supportive by giving a wide range of donations.
“We’ve received canes, crutches, walkers, elevated toilet seats, dressing aids and commodes,” Ryan said.
The Medicine Shoppe also got a large donation of new equipment from McKesson Canada.
Ryan says they expect to start the program early next week and equipment can be borrowed from the church and the pharmacy.
