New Brunswick’s health authorities have set up community assessment centres to test for COVID-19.
The centres are designed to reduce visits to emergency departments and lower the risk of transmission.
Dr. Jennifer Russell, the province’s chief medical officer of health, reiterated these are not walk-in clinics.
“Access to a community assessment centre will be by appointment only following appropriate triage through Tele-Care 811,” said Russell.
“That is why, please don’t call 811 if you don’t have symptoms.”
The centres are for people who are exhibiting mild to moderate symptoms of COVID-19.
Centres are currently set up in Saint John, Moncton, Fredericton and Miramichi.
