The days are now roughly the same length as the nights with the official arrival of spring in New Brunswick at 12:50 a.m. Friday.
A wetter-than-normal season is expected according to the Weather Network but temperatures should be close to average.
Meteorologist Doug Gilham says real spring-like weather often arrives late in this region thanks to the cold ocean nearby.
“The ocean water temperatures respond more slowly than land temperatures. Sometimes periods of warmer weather will get sabotaged by winds blowing in off the cold water and that can hold temperatures down.”
Gilham adds that’s why temperatures warm up much faster inland during the springtime compared to along the coast.
