Magical Memories Princess Parties is spreading magic and cheer to children in spite of self-distancing through free live story readings on Facebook Live.
“I think it’s something that I’m able to do that is contributing positivity to what’s going on right now,” said Kristen Anderson, owner of Magical Memories.
Magical Memories has a team of six regular cast members, three boys and three girls, with a larger pool of part-timers, that dress up as characters from children’s movies and attend events and birthday parties.
The Facebook Live readings are one of Anderson’s ways of keeping her business engaged during the coronavirus pandemic. The story readings will be held every Wednesday and Sunday at 6 pm for as long as self-distancing lasts.
Anderson, dressed as newly crowned Queen A from a certain animated icy phenomenon, begins the live stream with an activity to do alongside her young audience and then reads two stories.
“There was one that we did, the very first one, my sister gave it to my daughter last year called We Don’t Eat Our Classmates – it is so cute!” she said.
Anderson has also adjusted business during the COVID-19 quarantine. For birthdays booked prior to the pandemic, she is offering for $40 a 15-minute live call or pre-recorded message that the birthday girl or boy can keep.
Magical Memories’ storytime is certainly making magic for kids – and their parents.
“I had someone message me after one of them and they sent me a photo; they had set both kids up on the couch and they had put the live stream up on the TV,” said Anderson.
