Saint John police are investigating an attempted armed robbery at an uptown convenience store.
Police say a man armed with a weapon walked into King Street East Variety around 4:15 p.m. Saturday.
Spokesperson Jim Hennessy said the man demanded money but left a short time later without any.
Saturday’s attempted robbery is the latest in a string of incidents targetting convenience stores throughout the city.
Officers were called to Little John’s Variety on John T. McMillan Avenue around 8 p.m. Friday after a man entered the store and gathered some merchandise.
Police said the suspect, who was armed with a handgun, ran from the store to a waiting vehicle and fled the scene.
At around 5 p.m. Thursday, police said someone armed with a weapon walked into the Movie Tyme location in Lansdowne Plaza and made off with some cash.
Police said no one was injured in any of the incidents.
