Just when you thought it was safe to put away your shovel, Old Man Winter has second thoughts.
A winter-like storm is expected to bring heavy snow and strong winds to the region later this week.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for all of New Brunswick, with between 15 and 25 centimetres of snow expected.
“Wet snow is expected to begin Thursday, but rates of accumulation will likely increase Thursday night as the temperature slowly falls. The snow will likely change to rain over the Fundy region and southeastern portions of the province,” said the national weather agency.
Wind gusts of between 50 and 80 kilometres per hour are also expected, with the highest gusts over coastal areas.
Environment Canada said “pounding surf and elevated water levels” are also expected, “likely exceeding high astronomical tide.”
“Shore or beach erosion and damage to coastal infrastructure is possible in vulnerable areas along the Fundy shore Thursday night, and along the Acadian coast and Bay of Chaleur on Friday,” it said.
Conditions are expected to improve late in the day Friday, giving way to sun and clouds for the weekend.
Snow, rain, high winds and storm surge are expected to impact the Maritimes on Thursday night and Friday. Monitor special weather statements and possible future alerts at: https://t.co/H7vpTNFQjd #nbstorm pic.twitter.com/0Fxqpt5y73
