Businesses are slowly beginning to reopen in the province, but there are still a lot of New Brunswickers having a tough time financially.
CAA Insurance wants to help. It is offering a 10 per cent reduction on its new and renewing home and auto insurance policies.
Gary Howard, senior vice-president of marketing and communications, says COVID-19 is going to be history-making and is changing peoples live dramatically.
“We don’t know how long this is going to last, so this is temporary assistance but it does go for the duration of your policy,” Howard says.
The 10 per cent rate reduction is aimed specifically at lowering premiums during the COVID-19 pandemic. The reduced rates can be combined with additional ways to adjust coverage and payment plans to reflect reduced driving behaviour such as:
• Reducing your daily commute or annual mileage amounts on policies
• Insurance adjustments for multiple cars that aren’t being driven
Howard suggests contacting your broker or agent to find out more details about the reduction.
“Many companies are doing different things, so it’s best to check with your insurance company or broker, whichever you way you insure and see what’s available,” he said.
In the past, New Brunswick has had flooding and Western Canada has dealt with fires, but Howard says COVID-19 is by far the most unusual circumstances they have seen.
