Teachers in the Anglophone South School District and across the province are being brought back to school for June 1.
The school district sent a letter to teachers to give notice of the return, so arrangements can be made in advance.
The letter said it could take a few days for teachers to return to larger schools with bigger staff.
In a news release, the province said staff and teachers will be able to finish any outstanding tasks for the school year and prepare for the next school year.
“Over the past few months, educators and school and district staff have been working hard behind the scenes. They have been busy adapting to this new reality while ensuring students have the opportunity to develop and grow,” said Education Minister Dominic Cardy in the release.
“At this time, we are confident that districts, following the advice of Public Health, will be able to safely allow school staff access to facilities to complete their work for the school year.”
Schools will not reopen to students and the school year will not be extended. The final day of work for teachers will be June 23.
Meanwhile, custodians have already begun the summer deep cleaning process of common areas such as gyms and cafeterias.
