There is a tentative deal between the New Brunswick Association of Nursing Homes and the New Brunswick Council of Nursing Home Unions representing CUPE members at 51 of 68 provincial nursing homes.
In a news release, Social Development Minister Dororthy Shephard said she was always confident a deal could be reached and thanked everyone involved in the negotiating process for all of their efforts.
This bargaining unit has 4,100 members which include licensed practical nurses, resident attendants, cooks, laundry attendants and office clerks.
Details of the proposed deal are being withheld by both sides until it can be ratified.
The workers, who have been without a contract since 2016, previously voted in favour of strike action.
