A new poll shows a strong level of support for the provincial government led by Premier Blaine Higgs with 81 percent of respondents satisfied by the performance.
Narrative Research says this is the highest satisfaction level ever recorded since they began tracking in New Brunswick.
CEO Margaret Brigley says this shows New Brunswickers have had confidence in the premier’s leadership throughout the pandemic.
Higgs was also the preferred choice for premier with 41 percent support followed by Liberal leader Kevin Vickers with 15 percent, Green Party leader David Coon with 14 percent, People’s Alliance leader Kris Austin is preferred by 4 percent and interim NDP leader Mackenzie Thomason with 2 percent support.
The gap has widened between the Progressive Conservatives and the Liberals since the last survey in February.
If an election were held, about half of decided voters would support the Progressive Conservatives, about 30 percent would choose the Liberals and 15 percent would select the Green Party followed by the NDP at 5 percent and the People’s Alliance with 3 percent.
From May 1-20, Narrative Research surveyed 800 New Brunswick adults by telephone.
