Saint John’s only artist-run centre is bringing its artwork online.
Katie Buckley, the executive director of Third Space Gallery, said there are nine Saint John artists in the online exhibition.
“The theme is ‘Connectivity’ which we’re really happy about because it’s a theme that really hits close to home these days, so it’s a great exhibition to scroll through and some of the pieces are for sale as well,” she said.
Buckley said there is a combination of professional and emerging artists in this exhibition and for some, this is their first exhibition.
“The idea for this exhibition came about just at the beginning of the pandemic. We wanted to do something for our membership to offer them an opportunity to display their artwork, to give them an opportunity to be paid to display their artwork,” she said.
Buckley, who is also the programming coordinator, curated the collection of concrete and abstract around the “physical, emotional, and spiritual connections that we have with one another and the relationships we have fostered with our natural and built environments.”
“We thought an online exhibition is pretty simple from Third Space Gallery’s perspective, from an administrative perspective. You don’t have to install the artworks, you don’t have to ship the artworks and so it was a really easy way for us to get our members’ artwork out there,” she said.
The exhibition can be viewed online and runs until July 31.
