Public Health announced one new case of COVID-19 in New Brunswick Saturday, as efforts continue to contact trace the cluster of cases that sprung up in the Campbellton area.
The provincial total is now nine active cases, and 129 cases have been confirmed since the outbreak began.
According to a release issued by the provincial government, the new case is in the Zone 5 Campbellton region, though the case itself remains under investigation.
One more patient has been hospitalized, bringing the total to three. Yesterday, two patients were reported in intensive care, and today there are zero reported cases in the ICU.
Outside of Zone 5, the province remains in the yellow phase, and the chief medical officer of health is asking residents to remain compassionate as we experience a second wave of the pandemic.
“Please remember that COVID-19 brings out many emotions in us,” said Dr. Jennifer Russell in Saturday’s provincial update. “It causes many of us to experience feelings of confusion, anxiety, fear and grief. Some may also be angry. It is completely normal to feel these feelings when we face situations that are beyond our control. We can however choose how we react to these situations. We can offer support to our fellow New Brunswickers when they need it most.”
