It’s camping season and recreational vehicle (RV) sales and rentals are looking good despite the pandemic.
Ken Dobson, general sales manager at Leisure Time Sales in Quispamsis, said they were closed like the rest of the businesses until the May long weekend.
“We have noticed a small uptick in sales at the moment. Lots of different things could be related to that, I mean it’s natural camping season right now anyway,” he said.
Dobson said losing a few months where people could come in to buy or rent RVs could explain some of the pent up demand for RVs.
“Could have just been a little pent up demand that way but definitely a lot more people having conversations about camping and travelling at home and how their families can take advantage of those opportunities,” he said.
He said RV sales tend to happen in March, April and May while rentals happen near the end of June.
“If we took all the sales that we’ve done over the last bit and spread it over that time period, then we’re probably in a normal period but where it kind of all came into the month or into a few weeks we definitely notice a small uptick in interest,” he said.
Dobson said he’s cautiously optimistic moving forward.
